Star Wars in Dubai
With Dubai set to unveil the tallest building in the world, surpassing the current icon, the Taipei 101, I’m far more interested in French photographer Cédric Delsaux’s rendition of Star Wars in the Arab state.

James Griffioen – Feral Houses of Detroit
Photographer James Griffioen left a comfy life as a securities lawyer in San Francisco to take pictures and raise his family in Detroit – what many consider the most dangerous city in America thanks to a staggering rate of 1,220 violent crimes committed per 100,000 people.

Griffioen has since spent his days walking the streets of his disintegrating hometown photographing the houses that others have long left behind. In the absence of their owners, architectural structures are slowly taken over by green matter. He calls the series of photographs Feral Houses; feral meaning “reversion to a wild state” and belonging to the dead.

Gigantic Belgian Monster Cows
I can’t help but stare at these huge monster cows! Apparently, they originate in 19th century Belgium by crossing local cattle with British cattle.

The Belgian Blue cattle are gigantic bovine wonders. Their enormous size and muscle mass, sometimes called “double muscling,” is a naturally occurring mutation of the gene for myostatin, a protein that regulates muscle growth. This mutation results in accelerated lean muscle growth.

For show, they’re often shaved to show off their muscle growth.

See this video below for a little insight into their “development”. Watch as they collect the semen from one bull for artificial insemination (not kidding!)

Fantasy Creatures Taxidermy Style
Though taxidermic samples aren’t for the squeamish, artist Sabrina Brewer takes it to the next level to create compelling sculptures that mix and match dead animal parts to give “life” to creatures from fantasy.

Think griffins, unicorns and undead three-headed squirrels. If that floats your cryptozoologist boat, then have a look at her website at which you can buy your very own pair of Siamese Squirrel twins.

Would you drink this Strawberry Vodka Shot?
Whilst looking at shots of vodka isn’t exactly at the top of our activities list (although its above watching the washing machine spin), this Bloody Brain Shooter concoction had us compelled to stare.

Mixing acidic lime juice and irish cream creates the curdling brain-like strands and un-tasty as it looks, sounds like it goes down a dream.

Super Realistic Computer Generated Portraits
Digital graphics technology and skills undoubtedly improve over time, but these computer generated portraits blew me away! They’re not just super realistic, but the likeness to some recognisable actors (a few below) is unbelievable. Next benchmark is to get computer generated people to move realistically, and then who knows where we’ll go.
