Aliens Vs Predator Chess Set
Creating chess sets out of film tie-ins is nothing new, but this set featuring Aliens vs Predators still sends shivers down my spine.

Its a pretty neat looking set with the themed design working its way down to the base of either the Aliens vs Predator set, or the Ripley vs Aliens set further down.
I’d get one if I wasn’t trying to minimise what I own…

Ray Guns
Muddy Mountain Pottery creates all kinds of ceramic products, but most quirky of all are these antique-style retro ray guns.
Well, why not? They look great, and encourage creative thoughts that hark back to (my) childhoods of retro sci-fi movies and space age technology!

This here is the Harrisaurian. It features glass elements as part of the gun barrel and the sighting scope.
Each Raku Ray Gun comes with a ceramic moon crater plaque wall mount.

Art of the Title - A blog for film title sequences
Here’s a bit of a gem - a blog devoted to film title sequences. Each entry is listed in an easy to view left column, with each entry having a series of screenshots and video!
This is quite a reference. Below some of my favourites: 300, Lemony Snicket, The Kingdom and Fight Club

Sci-Fi Film Concept Artist and Illustrator Marc Gabbana
Marc Gabbana is an illustrator and concept artist who works in the advertising, publishing and motion picture industries. He has a truly awesome portfolio of work for films, advertising, and publishing as well as for his own personal ideas.

His first experience in Hollywood was on the movie Spawn, which opened a new arena in which Motion Picture Visual Development offered him the opportunity to see his designs come to life on the big screen. Marc fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a Star Wars concept artist for both The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones directed by George Lucas.

His other film credits include Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius, 8 Mile, Hellboy and IMAX’s first all CG 3D movie Cyberworld where he worked as the Production Designer. He also worked as illustrator and concept designer on the Wachowski brothers’ sequels Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions which were immediately followed by The Polar Express directed by Robert Zemeckis with Doug Chiang’s design team.

Rap on Design Coding
Here’s something a little unexpected - a rap track about design and coding issues for websites. If you work on the web and you’re a bit shaky when it comes to accessibility, check it out. The rhymes might help you with your coding standards!

The End - A Collection of Screenshots from Films
I guess there are many ways to say goodbye. However, in film, there is so much pressure to make the finale something worth viewing, or waiting for. To discover the twist, or to create that happy ending.
The final screen from films when they used to display “The End” was usually just a confirmation rather than the climax, but Filckr user “24 fps” gives due respect and reference to this last screen from almost 300 films.
Check out the The End gallery for inspiration on how to say goodbye…

Darth Maul with Sith Speeder Kubrick Set
Darth Maul as a character from Star Wars Episode I - the first of the new trilogy, really seemed to capture the cool factor the most, out of all the new characters. Its probably the double-ended lightsabre coupled with martial artist Ray Park’s wushu moves that did it.
Anyhow, being cool is the best reason I can give for posting this new Kubrick release which is scheduled for May 2008. The Kubrick style is admirable for creating compact versions of its licenses, yet still retaining the essence of each character.
