Braun Nose Hair Trimmer Poster

I don’t think this concept for advertising the Braun Nose Hair Trimmer is the most original of advert concepts, but nevertheless has a touch of humour.

Brauntrimmer1

Using portrait shots always has some degree of enticement to the viewer. Its human nature to be more drawn to another human than say, just a shot of some hair.

The creators must have had some fun in directing these guys to act a little serious  and a little proud to show off their nasal creations, but with a touch of parody.

Star Wars Exhibition: Laser Swords Advert

You don’t need to be a Star Wars fan to understand this clever idea to advertise a Star Wars Exhibition.

But if you are, you know that seeing two fluorescent light tubes like this sets off that yearning for light sabre waving.

Intricate, Knife Sculpture Advertising

Here’s advertising campaign that caught my eye. Cleverly implied visuals for these German knife products.

From EternallyCool.net

“Canova never thought of carving a radish, but then again, he probably never had knives like those made by WMF.

“Those sharp blades of steel not only enabled the replication in radish of his Three Graces, but also the embodiment of the classical aesthetic in such unlikely materials as pineapple and carrot.”

Coca-Cola’s Happiness Factory

As a designer, I sometimes see nothing more indulgent in a project than being able to create your own visual world, least of all, for a global brand such as Coca Cola!

Happiness Factory1

The Happiness Factory must have been one hell of a dream for the designers! A lovely, surreal flash world, which seems to be expanded from their motion graphics advert a few years ago, depicting the creation of a bottle of Cola from a vending machine.

The world is populated with lively characters with attitude, including a dancing workman, during the sites loading screens.

Happiness Factory2

I will have this site (and a download of the advert) permanently bookmarked for those moments of despair, when I need a little hope and happiness!

Clever Vespa Advert

I’ve often thought of getting a scooter in London, since there is so much traffic, but I don’t drive around as much as I used to, so haven’t made the plunge.

If I start driving to work one day, then this clever advert for Vespa sums it all up really. I think it was shown in Australia, but the nature of traffic is universal.

I love the trail of colour left in an otherwise drab and dreary landscape, and the fact that they haven’t even shown the scooter product.

London Landscapes in the Future

Barclay’s new combined Oyster travel card, credit card and OneTouch transaction card, sounding very convenient to Londoners like myself, hints at the future of commerce.

No wonder then that these new advertisements for Barclaycard show how London might look in the future; London as a fairground, and rooftop golf in the City.

Barclay1

I suppose it could happen to any city, but I must admit, seeing something I’m so familiar with, being portrayed in a new light, especially as fantastic (and unpractical) as this, is just really eye-catching.

I’d love for these landscapes to be real - being able to roller coaster around the sights of London and seeing so much green space around the city.

Barclay2

The visuals were created by Jean-Marie Vives and Mathieu Raynault, who have worked as matte painters for blockbuster movies including the Matrix, Lord of the Rings and King Kong.

A Clever Advert for Fast Drying Concrete

The great thing about advertising is the need to convey an effective marketing message in a very short space of time. The following advert is for Cemex Concrete and is by the advertising agency BBDO Germany.

Well, the image says it all really…

Pimp my Cuckoo Clock

As an idea, this poster for a mortgage company, that wants to enable anyone to realise their dream of better living, conveys the message well.

Rather than show off a real life scenario, they’ve taken a traditional and accessible, homely decoration - the cuckoo clock - and have shown it in a new light.

Pimp-My-Cuckoo-Clock-1

Whether it was intentional or not, I like the subtle “Pimp my…” reference of this concept, which ties in neatly with contemporary culture’s “Pimp my Ride” programmes etc..

Aside from being a great idea, I just love the miniaturisation of this fantastic “dream lifestyle”. If I saw this in a shop, I’d buy it, and once installed at home, I’d use the helipad to land my miniature radio controlled helicopter!
