Evolution of Tech
“Evolution of Technology” mixes robots and biology to explain survival of the fittest. Being a fan of the robot aesthetic, I’m loving the mix of bio and tech.
Created for Saturn.

Parkour Can Throwing
Several French kids put a Parkour twist on recycling cans, with amazing long-distance kicks and behind the back tosses.
A fun video to watch – some of this seems real, but others? The angles of trajectory look a bit skewed for some of the long range throws. What do you think?

Teddy Bear Killers
Olu Odukoya, founder of Kilimanjaro magazine, art directed a series of images of exploding teddy bears, shot by Dan Tobin Smith for Kilimanjaro’s latest issue.

Slow motion video can be seen on Creative Review’s website where the combination of soft, innocent toy and destructive power make for an impulsive viewing.

Snake Eat Frog Eat Snake
National Geographic recently announced the Best Wild Animal Photos of 2008. Here’s the winner of the “Animal Behaviour” category, called “Deadlock” which was captured in the dead of night in a Belizean rain forest.

David Maitland observed from midnight to 3 a.m. as a rare Morelet’s tree frog doggedly refused to become supper for a cat-eyed snake–and still didn’t see the conclusion.
“I would love to have seen them go their separate ways, but I was exhausted” the photographer said. “The frog was all the time trying to pull the snake off, but the snake just wouldn’t let go. “

Dream Sneakers
All Day I Dream About Sneakers is a new collaborative project from adidas Originals and Lifelounge.

The project showcases the story and kicks created by the world’s original sneaker freak, Herr Fritz Träumer – a mythical and enigmatic sneaker designer who dedicated his lifetime to constructing the most original range of sneakers ever seen.

A true visionary, Herr Fritz Träumer saw vast potential in the sneaker well beyond their athletic function and humble appearance. Absorbed daily in a world of sneaker design, he dreamed beyond the realm of possibility and quietly penned in a series of notebooks and journals, visions of sneakers that were truly out of this world.

In a unique collaboration with Lifelounge, adidas have published a limited edition book, exclusively available at sneaker retailers around Australia and New Zealand, featuring excerpts from Träumer’s private journals and imagery of his unique sneaker creations.

Check out LifeLounge.com, where you can view the sneakers and download wallpaper and a pdf of the book.

The Deep MIKRO Sculpture
Earlier this year Sam Buxton created a new MIKRO sculpture named The Deep exclusively for the opening of the Wonder Room at Selfridges in London.

The Deep is now finally available to buy directly from MIKRO online!
Sam also exhibited a major new sculptural work at Kukje Gallery in Seoul in July, as part of a group show of British Artists.

The 4m long work depicts an intricate journey through a contemporary city environment of organisational systems, surveillance, machines and distractions that explores our relationship to a manufactured urban life.
You can find out more about MIKRO at MikroWorld.com
