Guido Baselgia’s Abstract Photographic Desert Portraits

Guido Baselgia‘s photographic work caught my eye for its sense of simplicity combined with a sense of scale and depth.

From Lost At E Minor:

“With his surreal looking desert portraits, Guido Baselgia is really pushing the boundaries. What looks like landscapes and images taken from a Mars Rover are really salt lakes and black and white horizons set somewhere between Bolivia and Chile. Whether its 13,000 feet in the air gazing at the cartography of the land, or a portrait set in the dark ethereal corner of some mysterious terrain, Baselgia captures the moment using a large-format camera and prints on baryta paper.”

Reminds of Google Earth images, but with a more acute artistic sensibility.
